Birthday Time!

Today is my daughter-in-law Casey’s birthday. My husband never remembers…it’s firmly entrenched in his brain that her birthday is Sept. 4. If that meant double the presents for her, I’d encourage it! She is half the country away from us so we can’t celebrate together. However, that might be a reason to bake a cake anyway and we’ll just have a little party here and toast to her! Cake is always a good thing.

I’m spending time today trying to finish up the design details on my project-that-cannot-be-revealed. (And that’s only because it’s a surprise for someone that I know reads this blog!) I’m going full steam ahead on it and that’s always a good sign for me. That usually means it’s a ‘good’ design…one that resonates with the happy places in my brain.

It’s actually a design that I may use in a new book idea that’s percolating in the back of my head. I want to include free form piecing and surface design but it’s hard to come up with a cohesive, logical way to present what I want. Perhaps I need to lock myself in the studio for an extended period of time until I can stop my swirling thoughts and write everything down step by step. Hmmm…jail time was never in my plans when I started my escape from the quilt police!

Back to the studio–work will not get done when I’m looking at my computer screen!

Enjoy the day and the cake! A book about free form piecing AND surface design-hurry up and write that!!

  2. The dramatic image of you in a dungeon studio, working on a new book is pretty graphic. But…take some time to eat cake.
