I think I’m starting a series. I’ve avoided that in the past because of a production line mentality…if I make a bunch of stuff that is similar, or using the same fabrics, then I don’t feel like I’m making unique work. I know that’s wrong, but it’s a huge mental mountain for me to leap over.
I’m on a third or maybe fourth piece that seems to be exploring a similar color scheme and similar style of construction. They don’t feel like cookie cutter pieces. It’s a new experience for me and I’m just going to go with the flow.
This is my latest project, and I’m at a decision phase. I know that quilting will be coming and I think there will be some cording, but this decision needs to come first.
I’ve started taking a step back at these points and thinking before I decide instead of just barging right ahead. I’m trying to decide on which stone or stones to use.
First instinct, use these two stones, nice and square to repeat the squares in the fabric part of the design.
But I really also like emphasizing the single stone.
But which stone will look better? If I use this triangle shape, I could add a secondary design with the cording and quilting that are yet to be added.
And the other pieces that I think are in this series?
Does it feel like a series to anyone else?
