Can you believe it?

This will be blog number 800! It seems like only yesterday that I was at number 2! (And so was this guy!)

HPIM0727

I’ve certainly enjoyed blogging, perhaps because it’s not structured or limited to certain subjects. Everything is fair game for me, though my focus is definitely textile related. A couple of years ago, I would have said my focus was quilt related, but I do so much more than that now.

Being retired has given me time to learn new things. I’m a firm believer in the term “lifelong learner” and a day without learning something new is a sad day. Lots of new techniques have flown by me and I’ve grabbed on to a few of them as they went by. I’m loving the freedom to explore and then I tell you all about it!

Thanks for hanging in there with me…and I think I need to give some more fabric away! You have heard me lament lately that I have waaaaaaay too much fabric, more than I’ll ever be able to use. Leave a comment and maybe you can be the one I share with…random selection and amount, my choice!

I should be able to find something to give away.

Let’s have some fun!

  1. Congratulations on 800 posts. I discovered your blog through Nina Marie’s site and I love seeing what you are up to. I agree that fabric has a way of multiplying when we aren’t looking, but playing in someone else’s fabric scraps always adds something special to a quilt!

    • Isn’t it wonderful how things can be shared across the world now? A woman from the US and a woman from Amsterdam, united by the internet with a love of quilting and textiles! Awesome!!!

    • The things I have learned from reading people’s blogs could fill a book! That’s usually the first place I check now when I want to learn something!

  3. Time does fly but if you learn new things along the way it makes it all worthwhile. I’m finding blogging once a week keeps me on track and helps me reflect on what I’ve done and hope to do. To say nothing of the things I’ve learned from commenters and friends I’ve made. I’m sure it’s the same for you especially after 800 – wow! Happy anniversary with many more to follow đŸ™‚

    • If I go longer than 2-3 days between posts, I feel like something is wrong with me. Blogging has made me think a lot about how I do things and how I process new lessons.

    • Well, everything you put out on the internet is still there, as many people find out in a bad way! The same is true for all my blog entries…but 800? That really is a lot! Glad you are enjoying reading along. Thanks.

  5. I just discovered your blog through a friend who forwarded your pix from the SAQA exhibit in Chicago last month. I opened your page only to discover that I am familiar with your book. I just made 3 charity tops from
Rule Breaking Quilts and showed them at the guild meeting to encourage more people to use the guild library. So why did I make charity tops? To help get rid of the quilt fabric I hope to eventually use up. Do I need more
fabric? No, but that yellow fabric with the red splotches sure would look great in another charity top. I used to have a batik like that, but alas, it is all gone. Ellen in Florida

    • Using up that fabric stash is a really hard thing to do! There is so much more fabric in the stash than you think. I’m so happy you have been able to use my book. And that picture is so old that that yellow fabric is long gone! Thanks for taking the time to comment and I hope you continue to read along.

  6. They say that the pen is mightier than the sword, so I guess that goes for keyboards and type that are mightier than the scissors. Ok, that was a poor joke, but it might get me some free fabric.

  7. Congratulations! Not sure what number I’m on. Between the 2 WordPress blogs and two previous sites I wrote for, I really have no idea. Several hundred. I write more than I ever would have guessed 5 years ago.

    • I only write for this little blog…I know I could never keep up with all you do! And it IS surprising how much does get written. Who knew I’d have that much to say? Oh–wait–probably my early teachers who called me a little chatterbox!
