Over the last several days I’ve had lots of time to sew—hooray!!!! I’ve made a lot of progress on my City of Red/Gold, but there’s still a long way to go. Here are a few snaps of what I’ve been doing.

City Red:Gold 22

Haven’t decided on what to do with the painted parts, so I’m only stitching on the solid colors so far.

City Red:Gold 21

Simple stitches, but lots of ’em!

City Red:Gold 20

And…there will be beads!

  1. Interesting look in the larger view. I had a hard time imagining how the overall piece would look from a distance. It does seem to add a textural element to the piece.

    • There is a lot of texture that doesn’t show well in the photos. I hope it shows up when I finish it and get a pic with good lighting. If nothing else, it shows when you get up close!

  2. I’ve been watching you do this quilt and it is different from the leaf ones. Bright, exciting, bold! You finally answered my unasked question….. Beads!!! Oh My!! I can’t wait to see what you do!! Loving it!

    • It’s taking a long time to get the hand stitching done, but it’s feeling like it’s going to be worth the time I’m spending on it. And, yes, there WILL be beads!

    • I’m in love with variegated threads! Planning on trying to dye some of my own, but there are so many out there that I can just walk into a store and buy…love ’em!

    • Nope–no wool used in this one. All 100% cotton. To the best of my recollection, all the solid colors are Robert Kaufman solids.
