Supplies

RULE-BREAKING QUILTING (Includes Disorderly Conduct, Crime Wave and Curvy Improv)
Basic sewing supplies, thread in a neutral color, rotary cutter, ruler and mat, sewing machine. Fabric required: Minimum of 6 fat quarters that play well together. Usually that means a focus fabric, a light, a dark and 3 mediums, but you can pick anything that you like! Tone-on-tone fabrics are always good supporters of that focus fabric. Solids also work very well and can give a modern look. You are free to bring any additional fabric or scraps that you desire!
An extra 1/2 yard or yard of a couple of those fabrics to use for borders, filling in spaces, binding.
Batting, about 45” square—which you will use for your design wall as you work. Final size of batting needed will be determined by the final shape of your design.
Backing will be determined by the final shape and size of your design.
Optional items: Square ruler, sense of adventure

BUILD A SCRAPPY VILLAGE
Basic sewing supplies, thread in a neutral color, rotary cutter, ruler and mat, sewing machine in good working order. Batting or fleece for design wall, 45” square or larger. Bring lots of scraps–pieces need to be at least 5” square and larger is much better. Background may be similar tones in one color way or a single fabric. Amount will depend on what size project you decide your quilt will be. I used about 2 yds. for the sample, which is 60” x 50”, perhaps larger than you want to make!

QUILTING YOUR INNER ARTIST
Basic sewing supplies, thread in a neutral color, rotary cutter, ruler and mat, sewing machine.
Fabric required: The nature of this class is a bit experimental, so exact fabric amounts cannot be determined. You should bring a minimum of 6 fat quarters that play well together. Usually that means a focus fabric, a light, a dark and 3 mediums, but you can pick anything that you like! The sample quilt used about a yard of a focus fabric and several tone on tone fabrics selected from that focus fabric. You should also plan on an extra 1/2 yard or yard of a couple of those fabrics to use for playing. Bring more fabric if you are unsure about which ones you want to play with!

ANYTHING GOES  WITH UFO’S
Basic sewing supplies, thread in a neutral color, rotary cutter, ruler and mat, sewing machine
Several UFO blocks (or parts of blocks) OR a small project that can be cut up. Scraps and leftover fabrics, variety of lights, mediums, darks—don’t bring more than a laundry basket full and prepare to share! You may also work with just scraps if you have no UFO’s-ha ha!
Optional: Square ruler, large piece of batting or flannel to use as a design board

Paper will be supplied so we all start out on the same page (pun intended!). Bring at least 5 fabrics with which you would like to work(for ideas only, we won’t be sewing), and plan on taking home one or more original designs.

BASIC BEADS ON QUILTS
Everything you need is available in a kit (cost is $10) or you may bring your own supplies. The kit allows you to make a small quilt picture while learning all the basic skills you need to add beads to your own quilts. If you prefer to bring your own supplies, you will need a 6-8″ square of a print fabric, with batting the same size. Finishing options will be covered in class and completed on your own.

Optional: 12” square of freezer paper or template plastic, 10” embroidery hoop, IF you have one, strong eyewear, extra light, pillow or anything else you need for comfort! Needles and beading thread for the various techniques will be provided.

Variety of embroidery floss and perle cotton to go with your color choices. Seed beads in several sizes (a variety package such as Bead Soup is a good option).
