When I first created this piece, I thought the paint color of the canvas was a perfect fit. Dark and dramatic, with the light on the rocky ridge.

I’ve had it hanging on the wall in my living room for quite a while now and it started to feel dark and depressing instead of dramatic. So I got very brave today and repainted the canvas a much lighter color…without removing the artwork! I attached it by beading the edge right into the canvas. I was very nervous about getting paint on the fabric, but I took a deep breath and went for it.

I like it soooo much better now. It’s much more like the sunshiny day it represents.
Such a simple thing to make such a huge difference. That’s why art is so wonderful. Each color, or color change, matters to the feeling and mood of the total package.
Not a big project, but a very happy one for me today!

Yay for being brave! It really is better!

I was a bit nervous, for sure, but I used a lot of masking tape, which made me feel safer!

It’s usually easy to tell when it’s ‘not right’ and sometimes hard to fix. I’m happy with this one!
