Fabric · Use Up the Stash

777

WordPress has informed me that I have published post number 777. Actually, more than that now. Doesn’t a number like that mean I should give something away?

I’m sure that someone, somewhere could use a couple of fat quarters of fabric. I think I can find some to share!

  2. I love to make scrappy quilts so I buy a lot of fat quarters to give me more variety in them. Seems like I’m always short on neutrals!

  3. Wow what a stash! My husband doesn’t understand why I would buy fabric just “because” so I haven’t stashed much at all. I love seeing your collection!

    1. Doesn’t he have an extra screwdriver or an extra sleeve of golf balls or an extra of whatever his hobby might be? We NEED to have choices when we are creating, so of course we need a stash!!

  4. Great stash shot. Maybe mine will be that big some day, but I would need new shelves. You are lucky! It’s hard to get working on some inspiration when I need to start at the store.

    1. Inspiration for me comes from pulling a piece or two of fabric off those shelves and cutting into it! That’s the reason we need a stash, isn’t it? Just like any artist needs a full palette of colors!

    1. I am TRYING not to buy more fabric, but sometimes it just jumps off the shelf and has to come home with me. I don’t understand how that happens…do you?

  5. I love numbers like that! And that is also a *lot* of posts (as well as a lot of fabric – stash does seem to grow when you turn your back, doesn’t it?). Congratulations!

    1. It seems like a lot of posts when you lump them all into one number, but it’s just a bit of fun when you’re doing them one at a time. But those bigger numbers surprise even me!

  6. Hi, I’ve just started sewing a few months ago. I feel like I’m past using ugly scraps to practice, so I would love something really cute to push me to complete a more advanced project!!

  7. Omg! I am so jealous of your fabric stash! I’m just starting out and would love to have that much fabric one day. Right now all I have are little scraps. I’ll get there one day. *Sigh* lol

  8. Imagine making 777 quilt blocks. That would be a large quilt. You need a week to sort your stash. It would be a fun project, call a friend to help, make a pot of tea and turn up the radio. Any Black and Whites in there that aren’t flowers? I need some for my son.

    1. And sometimes it feels like you’re making 777 quilt blocks when you are making the same block over and over again! That’s why I went to improv quilting!

  9. Thanks for the chance to win. That is one great stash! 🙂 I’m new to quilting but have been sewing clothes and costumes for a long time.

    1. Clothing and costume scraps can add some excitement to non-traditional quilting–maybe not so good for snuggling under! I’m sure you’ll fall in love with quilting–it’s the best!

  10. 777 posts! 7 happens to be my lucky number and has proven itself lucky in many ways during my life. I hope it’s lucky for you too! I wish I had a storage unit large enough to comfortably handle my fabric stash. On the other hand, if I did have anything larger, I would probably stash more fabric!

    1. That’s exactly what happens–if you have more space you get more stuff to fill it up! I need to work from a smaller space so I don’t have so much overflow!

  11. Oh… so jealous of that stash- (and the fact that you have shelves to put it on!)! I love getting inspired by other people’s fabric- thanks for sharing and so happy I found your blog!

  12. I love other people’s cast offs and fabric uglies- all the “I can’t believe I ever bought those!” I love trying to pair them up with things from my stash (which isn’t nearly as impressive as yours!) and making quilts to donate. Congrats on reaching 777!

  13. Wow, thats quite a collection. Personally I like to hide mine in various spots, some in the bedroom, some under the sewing desk, in the cupboard…I’m sure you are getting the picture. Actually its not that bad, my daughter has a much bigger stache of spun and unspun wool. So really, I’m just playing catch up, as is right and proper.

    1. You definitely need to come over for dye days, too! Then you can have all the dyed fabric you can dream up!

  17. Kathy, are you still in Florida. Daughter and I drove down last weekend. It is strange, sad and lonely without my Gary. I catch most of your blogging and get inspired. Thanks.

    1. Donna, we are halfway home today. Wish we could have connected…you will have so many big adjustments to make now. Hope the happy memories follow you around and that they are more than the sad and lonely days. So sorry about your loss. Give me a call when you get back to town and we’ll get together for lunch and some fun!
