The result of my jewelry play day is totally different than what the original plan was! Nothing new for me, though. As we looked through the jewelry, I was going for floral pins, circles, glitzy stuff. I found some of that but I also discovered a little bag of critters–in my own stash! I changed the direction of my project to use them instead of the flowers on this little piece.
Started with quilting…

Added “made fabric” leaves and stitched more on them.

And then I added the critters.
I was going to attach them as if they were beads, but since they were all pins, I simply pinned them on. Now all I have to do is decide on the hanging part. Since I have textile factory bobbins, and one that was a perfect size……no brainer!

I’m pretty sure that I’ll attach it with a narrow yarn like the sari yarn draped on the spindle, but I have to check out a bunch of stuff before I’m certain.
This was fun, fast and easy….a perfect combination for me. It felt very good to get a little bit of stitching in today after all-hockey-all-weekend!

Using the spindle and the sari silk is an interesting idea. It has great possibilities.

I’m trying to include hanging devices as part of the finished work on small pieces. So much easier to both display and store that way!
