In an effort to really get a bit more organized, I’m getting rid of some of the extra stuff cluttering up my studio. I have a table/desk with an old mantel sitting on top that is nothing more than a FSSJC (Flat Surface Syndrome Junk Collector). You should have seen all the crap I cleared off of it just to take a picture. And a family member is taking it, so you don’t have to ask!

At one time I thought I would really use it as a desk, but that never happened. I design on the fly, on the design wall, not on paper or the computer, sitting at a desk. In fact, I never even took my computer downstairs to the studio! So the table will be painted a nice, bright color and become an actual, intentional flat surface quilt storage unit. That will mean another truly useless table that’s in the way can see the exit.
My next stitching projects are getting organized, too. I got the background ready to quilt for this piece.

It’s the next one up to get finished.
After that, since it won’t take long, will be work using this fabric. It will be part of my Prairie series and ideas are starting to percolate.

And I thought a lot about what I want to do with these blocks and I’m pretty sure I know what to do with them, that will make me quite happy.

I was initially going to take them apart and re-sew all 24 parts, but that seemed too extreme. They are nicely sewn into 6 large blocks and it will be much easier to cut and play starting from full blocks. Third on the list, but that’s fine, since they need more thinking time.
In between times, taxes must be done, small projects for my different groups must be finished and there is precious grandson time. However, I now feel much more calm about what’s coming up to be done. Ready to roll!

Wow that mantel is fabulous……as are your other projects. Can’t get enough of your creativity!

I always loved that mantel but it never worked out for the ways I tried to showcase it. It will be going to a home that can do that! AND staying in the family! I’m trying to organize myself a bit and stay on track for finishes…I’m tired of my easy distractions and so many unfinished projects!
