At one time, I played with an online group with different challenges. I found this one when I was moving some things around in the studio.
I believe we were to pick a woman from history and illustrate her. This is about Amelia Bloomer, a suffragette. As well as fighting to get women the vote, she adopted the wearing of pant style outfits and yes, this is where we got the term “bloomers.”
I printed some images on polyester fabric and appliqued them to the bloomers I made.
Maybe not an exciting piece, but it is still relevant today. And maybe that’s a sad thing.
