Painted Ladies

These little face beads just enchanted me and I knew that I would have to use them in one of my Weekly Special pieces.

One thing I found out while I was adding some stitching to this one is that the Sew Lazy Stiff Stuff™ that I use is not easy to add embroidery stitches through. So all the pieces I prepped ready for beading, thinking stitching would be easy to add…not so much. Even with callused fingers, my fingers were hurting by the time I was done! Good thing I prepped some alternates with batting. Much easier to add hand stitching to.

Not as many rows of stitching as I would have liked, but this will do. And I definitely like the addition of the paint to the background…oh–that’s hard to stitch through also! I think that means in the future the painted ones may end up on batting. Anything that’s mounted really doesn’t need the extra support of the stiff stuff.

Lesson learned!

    1. I don’t often fall in love with “cutesy” things, but I couldn’t resist these little ladies!

    1. Thanks for compliment. I’m trying to be more conscious of the basic design elements in everything I do now…even the fun and easy pieces!
