Plodding

There are times when it seems as though nothing will ever get done. You just plod through the necessary work, one slow step at a time, simply keepin’ on keepin’ on. And suddenly a piece is done…………..but the rest of studio is still filled with one.slow.step.at.a.time.

I am about half done with the stitching on the current stash quilt.

The feathers are still fun and it doesn’t matter too much if you mess up an individual feather here and there. The overall look is fine.

Seemed like I had to wait forever for the fabric to dry so I could get the rock project going. The stones will be in columns, representing the rocky ridges I love in the mountains.

It’s very slow, but I think it will fit the picture in my head. I MAY have to trim it down, though and that will mean eliminating my favorite part of this background piece, which is the area with the pinks and blues.

I hope I can figure out a good way to integrate them.

Most of the events that I was looking forward to in the next couple of weeks have been cancelled, which is good, but still disappointing. Schools are closed and I don’t anticipate much home learning stuff for most kids. I’m sure I will have my grandson for quite a few of those days…he has no idea of how much spring yard work he can help with! I will definitely use his young muscles!!!

I guess I need to either start another project, or figure out a list of projects for a goal. Maybe a few little things for some instant gratification. I’ve been wanting to incorporate more paper into my work, so perhaps it’s time for a fabric/paper journal.

But the sun IS shining today and the weather is actually spring like, so I’m eager to spend some time outside. Rocks and dirt are calling louder than the birds right now!

    1. Thankfully all our snow is gone but it will still be quite a while before it’s warm enough to plant anything. Lots of time to build that rock garden, though, and to clean up all the leaves I didn’t get to in the fall! And that STILL leaves plenty of time for stitching! Hooray!

  1. As events got cancelled and I had more free time, instead of a quick finish, I found that work expanded to fill the time. LOL. Once I get a grip, I’ll accomplish more. I have a stack of books and stashes of fabric and yarn and enough food for two weeks. And a corner grocery. All is well.

    1. All is well…I think most of us who have daily needs met and something to do that we love will have no problems with social distancing. I certainly look forward to more time in the studio!

    1. This time is great for us and it SEEMS as though we should be able to stay safe and healthy. Those of us who have fun things to enjoy will have a great time! Wishing well for everyone.
