Not the most successful dye day as far as people…only 1 person was able to come, but I got a lot done! And I had thickened dye that I wanted to use up, so I went at it for a second day. You always want to see the results, so here they are! I’ll start with the less than attractive results.

Didn’t like them before I tried overdyeing and don’t like them now either!
This next one is a wipe-off rag from the first day that I overdyed on the second day. Didn’t like it on the first go, but I think it has possibilities now.

Tried some positive/negative.

Did some color blocking and let one screen dry with dye so a bit of deconstructed printing, too.

Sometimes the back is more interesting than the front.

Lots of stuff on a set of fat quarters that originally came out an unhappy color. Limited stencils, limited color and now they all coordinate and I can see a use for them.

And my favorite stamp that I ever made!

And these make me think of graffiti and I want to do a whole picture that feels urban/graffiti/funky!

So I feel like I got a lot done, but there is still a lot of fabric sitting on the table. Some of it is horribly ugly and some is still all white. I can certainly look forward to another dye day now. Maybe I’ll check the weather though, and wait for a nice, cool day.

Your prints are inspiring me for several quilts. I love the yellow it would be perfect for my map quilt. Keep up the fun job. I can’t wait to see what you end up creating with them. :)

I have lots of fun dyeing the fabrics, but they don’t always get used very quickly! Just building up my palette of colors this time!

Interesting that the ‘over dying’ didn’t help make the ‘uglies’ better. HA! But it’s all about the process IMHO. Experimenting and fiddling around is half the fun! Thank you for allowing us a peek into your dying days (oh gee, sounds bad, but not intended to!)

Yes, the process is the thing. Fun every step of the way and if you overdye your uglies enough times, you get to some rich blacks eventually!!!

In the top photo the three on the right resemble dried zinnia heads and are quite attractive.

Too darn bad we live in different states….I’d have joined you in a flash. It’s been ages since our groups have done any outdoor dyeing….and I’m dying to do that!!!

If we lived close together, we would get in soooo much (good) trouble together! Wouldn’t that be fun?!!!
